Jasper Stone
Another denizen of Snor City, Jasper is a final year Geoinformatics student at the University of Pretoria. He was born in Pretoria and went to Hoërskool Waterkloof. After matriculation, he went on to work with the South African Weather Service and the department of environmental affairs. It was only inevitable that due to his love of geography and mapping, he applied to study Geoinformatics at Tukkies soon after.
Phumzile Masupyoe
Phumzile was born and raised in Pretoria. She went to Soshanguve High School and went to study Geosciences at the University of Witwatersrand, where she discovered she was not inclined to study geology and opted for Geomatics. She found the university of Pretoria to be the best institution to offer her the degree and moved back to Pretoria to do her degree in Geoinformaticcs. She is currently doing her final year.
I grew in Midrand, Johannesburg north, I did my secondary education at Ivory park secondary school. I am a final year student at UP studying a BSc in Geoinformatics. What I love about GIS is that it is an exciting, rapidly changing, and cool technology that merges nicely with many other technologies you may be interested in, such as video, web development, and phone apps.
Mosa Nkomo
Carmen Coetzee was born 29 February 1996 in Kapanong hospital in Vereeniging. She lived there for 18 years. In 2014 she matriculated from Hoërskool Vereeniging Gymnasium and moved to Pretoria to study. She is currently doing her final year as a BSc Geoinformatics student at the University of Pretoria and is a member of the GMT320 ‘Georapid’ group.
As a full time student most of her time is occupied. During any free time she does odd jobs to pay for life’s expenses or volunteers at any animal associated organization.
She believes in hard work, equality and making a difference. Carmen is driven by passion and creativity with a desire to help people. Her love for nature and adventure inspires her strive to be better everywhere.
She enjoys data visualization, cartography and napping.
She hopes to follow a career path in the military field.
Carmen Coetzee
Gareth was born in Durban and grew up in the suburb of Hillcrest. Gareth attended Thomas More College, where he always has a passion for geography. After completing 1 year of a degree in Engineering at the University of Pretoria he decided to pursue this passion and switched to a BSc degree in Geoinformatics. Gareth enjoys the programming and problem solving involved when creating GIS solutions. He is currently completing the final year of his degree.
